UnitedHealthcare and Black Girls RUN! Kick Off F.I.T. National Running Clinic Tour in Baltimore

WHAT: UnitedHealthcare and Black Girls RUN! are collaborating to bring the F.I.T. (Fitness Intervention Team) National Running Clinic Tour to major U.S. cities. Black Girls RUN! F.I.T. is a series of free fitness and running clinics to inspire and encourage African-American women to develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle through running and physical activity. Participants will learn how to get race-ready and prevent injury, participate in various fitness demonstrations, enjoy healthy snacks, receive giveaways, and have a chance to win raffle prizes. The F.I.T. National Running Clinic tour stops in Baltimore, MD on April 6, and is one of seven Black Girls RUN! Running Clinics scheduled to hit major cities across the count.

WHO: UnitedHealthcare's Generation of Wellness® initiative and Black Girls RUN! are working together throughout the year to encourage physical activity among African-American women and provide wellness resources and tools to BGR!’s 52,000 members across the country.  UnitedHealthcare is focusing on combating obesity and other negative health factors by supporting community running and increased physical activity.

Black Girls RUN!

Black Girls RUN! is a national running group launched in 2009 by Toni Carey and Ashley Hicks. The organization has grown to include more than 69 running groups across the nation with more than 52,000 members.  The group was created to combat the obesity epidemic among women in the African-American community and dispel the myth that black women do not run. The groups include beginner and experienced runners and provide a support system to help members reach their fitness goals. Black Girls RUN! provides a community and inspires all women to run.
