'Baltimore Sun': Cockeysville Couple Raise Nearly $1 Million for Suicide Prevention
After losing their daughter 10 years ago, Sharon and Douglas Strouse have committed to raising awareness about mental illness.

A family in Cockeysville has been raising money for almost 10 years to help prevent other families from suffering the sort of devastating loss they suffered, according to a Baltimore Sun article.
Sharon and Douglas Strouse lost their daughter, Kristin, to suicide shortly after the September 11 attacks. Kristin, 17, was a college student at the Parsons School of Design in New York City, just blocks from the World Trade Center buildings.
In their grief, the Strouse family decided to help others, and founded an annual charity golf tournament. This summer, the tournament, held at a Hunt Valley country club, raised more than $103,000, bringing the Strouses' fundraising total to nearly $1 million.
