Cockeysville Woman Sentenced to More Than 11 Years in Drug Case
Tahirah Carter, 35, admitted to participating in a conspiracy to distribute heroin.

A Cockeysville woman was sentenced to more than 11 years in prison in U.S. District Court on Monday for her part in a scheme to distribute heroin, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office for Maryland.
Tariah Carter, 35, pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute about 30 kilograms of heroin, according to the press release.
Carter admitted to traveling from Baltimore to New York to obtain heroin and deliver cash payments for the drug, the release stated. In the plea agreement, Carter said she acted as a courier and point of contact for a supplier in New York from Nov. 2005 to July 2008.

U.S. District Judge J. Frederick Motz, who presided over Carter's case, also sentenced her to three years supervised release following imprisonment.
Joy Edison, 25, also admitted involvement in the conspiracy. Edison, an Elkton resident, is scheduled to be sentenced at 2:30 p.m., Aug. 26.
