Hunt Valley Still Recovering from Irene

A look at the damage inflicted in the area by Hurricane Irene.

Residents and businesses tried to get back to normal Monday despite a host of problems remaining in the wake of  blowing through Hunt Valley this weekend.

I spent a few hours traveling through town earlier in the day to get an idea of how things were looking. Those who followed me on Twitter at CockeysvlePatch received the live updates, but, if you missed it, here's a round-up of the lingering issues.

  • There were delays near Warren and Bosley roads in Cockeysville as crews cleared up fallen tree debris.
  • Residents of Warren Common and Cuba Roads in Cockeysville said they have no power.
  • Comcast crews were on scene at Rossbrooke Apartment in Cockeysville.
  • Crews were clearing debris across York Road.
  • Traffic lights at the intersection of Shawan and York roads in Hunt were still down. Police were monitoring the area. 
  • Crews were clearing debris and fallen trees from Cuba Road. 
  • Residents at Loveton Farms in Sparks said some of the first floor apartments sustained flooding.
  • There was heavy debris on Corbett Road in Parkton. 
  • A fallen tree on Hereford Road near Quiet Oaks Lane in Parkton was disrupting traffic. 
  • , a Sparks coffee shop, had a fallen tree right next to the property. Parking may be tricky.
  • The gas station at the intersection of Shawan and York roads in Hunt Valley is still closed. The nearby Shell and Exxon stations are open, but a few pumps at Shell are damaged. 
  • A few fallen trees and a telephone pole have fallen on Ensor Mill Road, near Belfast Road, in Sparks. Portions of the road are completely blocked.
  • Traffic on Lower-Glencoe Road in Glencoe was delayed by trees across the road. 
  • Reader Christi Ranck reported that power is out on Powers Avenue, Hollow Road and Osage Road.
  • Reader Dorothy Simmons Lasky reported that power came back at around 9 a.m., at High View condominiums in Hunt Valley.
  • Reader Jocelyn Gregor-Papa reported there is no power at the Springdale Swim Club in Cockeysville.
