Man Charged with Attempted Murder of Cockeysville Woman
The dispute began when the accused dropped off his child at the mother's house, police say.

A 28-year-old Baltimore man has been arrested and charged with the attempted murder of the mother of his child, police said Monday.
Jose Mejia-Cuevas, of the 900 block of Woodson Road in Baltimore City, also faces charges of assault and kidnapping.
The incident started after a dispute with his child’s mother turned violent, police spokeswoman Cathleen Batton said.

Mejia-Cuevas went to the woman’s residence in the 10100 block of Charington Road in Cockeysville at 5:30 a.m. April 30 to drop off their child, Batton said.
The woman reported to police that the two started arguing soon after Mejia-Cuevas arrived. She said that he later pulled out a knife and tried to attack her. The woman's hand was cut while trying to ward off the knife, Batton said.

Police say Mejia-Cuevas then forced the woman into his vehicle and drove her to his apartment to clean her wounds. When he determined that the injury was too severe, he took her to St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Towson, Batton said.
The woman notified police of the incident while at the hospital.
Mejia-Cuevas, who was arrested April 30, was denied bail and is being held at the Baltimore County Detention Center.
