Phoenix's Ruut Performing in Annapolis

Phoenix-based singer-songwriter Ruut is performing live at Annapolis’ Rams Head On Stage this Saturday afternoon at 2 PM. The indie-folk artist will be joined by a killer backing band to premier tracks off Glimpse, her forthcoming new album. The Annapolis venue is the perfect host for the live debut of the Maryland-recorded, mixed, and packaged album. Glimpse is Ruut’s follow up to 2008’s acclaimed The Steinway Sessions.

The quieter, solo driven Steinway Sessions has given way toGlimpse’s layered sonic soundscape. Songs like “Make It Good” and “Heartbreak” combine a rollicking sound with Ruut’s signature introspective songwriting. The Annapolis audience will be treated to a live performance of “Glimpse” the pulsating title track off the new album. “Glimpse” begins with a simmering intensity and reaches a powerful crescendo, similar to well-known modern classics like U2’s “Sometimes You Can’t Make It OnYour Own” and Coldplay’s “Fix You.” The Rams Head stage will allow Ruut to unleash the song’s awesome intensity with her powerful voice and stage presence. A powerful new music video for “Glimpse” was recently released online.

New life experiences and the birth of her second daughter provided Ruut the inspiration for Glimpse. The singer says: “Experiencing motherhood has made me realize how quickly life is passing, and that I need to live in every moment. I’m not too worried about the outcome anymore. I just want to write and sing about what has meaning to me - being human, finding and holding onto love, and the journey that brings us face-to-face with our most authentic selves.”

Glimpse hits iTunes on September 1st, but fans who attend Rams Head, and Ruut’s other live performances this summer, will have the opportunity to purchase the album. Her stylish new line of merchandise is also being sold at live events.

The show begins at 2:00 PM. Doors open at 1:00. Fans will be treated to Washington, DC musician Eric Scott as the opening act. All ages are welcome.
