Police Warn of Heavy Traffic, Gun Salute During Schaefer's Funeral
Capt. J. Martin Lurz alerts the community about William Donald Schaefer's internment.

E-mail notice from Baltimore County Police Capt. J. Martin Lurz, Precinct 7:
SPECIAL ATTENTION TO RESIDENTS OF THE TIMONIUM, SPRINGLAKE, STRATFORD, POT SPRING, AND DULANEY GATE COMMUNITIES, AS WELL AS SCHOOL ADMINISTRATORS AT DULANEY HIGH SCHOOL, COCKEYSVILLE MIDDLE SCHOOL, PADONIA INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, AND POT SPRING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL:
On Wednesday, April 27, 2011, during the interment of former-Governor William Donald Schaefer at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens, residents of these communities and those attending the area schools are likely to hear a series of very loud explosive sounds as part of a protocol Howitzer artillery salute. This activity is not expected to occur until after 1 p.m., but it is extremely difficult to predict exactly when this will occur. Obviously, the Howitzers will fire "blanks", but the "report" from this artillery can be extremely loud and may cause concern throughout the schools and neighborhood. The noise may also rattle some windows, cause house pets such as dogs and cats some anxiety issues, etc. Please remember that this is part of the funeral service at the cemetery. There will also be some serious traffic congestion in the Timonium area during the day on Wednesday. As planning gets more specific as to times, numbers, etc., I will update the community on the expected traffic delays as well as some suggested detours. Meanwhile, please share this information with neighbors and friends who do not have access to e-mail. Thanks again for your patience and understanding.
