THE GREAT ESCAPE: St. Patrick’s Day is Underway at An Poitin Stil
"The Still" has the Irish in you covered through the big day.

The luck of the Irish is with all of us in northern Baltimore County, thanks to An Poitin Stil in Timonium. Judging by the crowds I’ve seen there myself every time I’ve gone, as well as by the full parking lot pretty much every time I happen to drive by, The Still is a favorite hangout and eatery for the locals. (This local always shares the Irish Nachos and orders the Bookmaker Sandwich, but everyone has his or her favorite.)
If it feels like St. Patrick’s Day every day of the year at the York Road pub, then joining in the fun of this week’s events will feel like running into a leprechaun with a pot of gold. The Still’s 2011 party has partly passed us by, having already started this past Friday. But the festivities continue through the big day itself, Thursday, March 17, with something special to celebrate each day.
Today, Monday, March 14, half-price burgers are available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the traditional holiday meal of corned beef and cabbage is just $10 from 4 p.m. until closing time. Tuesday, March 15, brings a $10 special on Shepherd’s Pie starting at 4 p.m., and the Chilly Dogs will perform from 9 p.m. until 1 a.m. On St. Patrick’s Day Eve, Wednesday, March 16, the party will pause at 7 p.m., for a toast to mark the dawn of St. Patrick’s Day in Ireland. Keep toasting well after that auspicious hour with drink specials beginning at 9 p.m. - $2 Killian’s Red and Miller Light Draft, and $5 Bailey’s and Coffee. There will also be a prize drawing at midnight.

The party resumes at 10 a.m., Thursday, March 17, when the pub opens for the culmination of its St. Patrick’s Day celebration. Colleen Carew, a DJ on 100.7 The Bay, will host a live broadcast until 3 p.m., featuring give-away prizes and tickets. At 3 p.m., a tent will open to add to the fun with a prize for the first 100 guests to arrive as well as a second stage for bands, including Someone Else from 3 to 7 p.m., and The ShamRogues from 8:30 p.m. to 1 a.m. The indoor stage will featured Ed McBride from 3 to 7 p.m., and Release from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m.
What would St. Patrick’s Day at an Irish pub be without a few drink specials? Under the tent, the 21-and-over crowd can enjoy two-for-one pricing on Blue Moon, Killian’s Red and Miller Light drafts. Inside the bar, the specials include $5 Jameson’s drinks all day, as well as a beat-the-clock prices on Guinness, Harp and Smithwick’s – pints are $2 at 11 a.m., $3 from 11 a.m. until noon, $4 from noon until 4 p.m., and $5 from 4 p.m. until the party finally winds down at closing time.
