UPDATE: Woman Killed After Parkton Car Collision

(UPDATE 2:30 p.m.)— Linda Marie Bennett, of the 500 block of Freeland Road in Freeland, was pronounced dead at the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center following a head-on car collision in Parkton early Friday morning.

Bennett, 60, was driving her 1993 Buick Park Avenue southbound down York Road when her vehicle drifted across the center line and collided with a northbound 2002 F-450 Ford pick-up truck, police said. The driver of the Ford, Christopher Michael Ayers, 43, of the 200 block of Dairy Road in Parkton, was not injured contrary to earlier police reports. 

Police responded to the scene in the 19900 block of York Road near Kaufman Road at around 7:10 a.m.
