Your Guide for the Komen Maryland Race for the Cure

Get all the information you need for Sunday's race, including road closures and the schedule of events.

The Komen Maryland Race for the Cure will take place this Sunday in Hunt Valley and Patch has the details on what you need to know for the big day. 

Registration

Interested runners can still join the race by registering online and picking up their race t-shirts from walk-up registration at the former Filene's Basement store in the . Online registration is available until Saturday, but you can sign up at the event starting at 6 a.m. Sunday.

Race Day Schedule

The race's headquarters will operate in the parking lots of Executive Plaza in Hunt Valley. If you're using a GPS or online mapping service, use the address 11350 McCormick Road.

6 a.m. Survivor, Pledge and Registration Tents Open

6:40 a.m. Parade of Pink

7 a.m. Survivor Photo

7:15 a.m. Aerobic Warm-up

8 a.m. 5K Run, Timed and Untimed

8:30 a.m. 5K/1 mile Family Fun Walk

10 a.m. Awards Ceremony

Road Closures

Starting at 6 a.m.

  • Shawan Road, eastbound between McCormick and York roads
  • McCormick Road, between Shawan and Beaver Dam roads
  • Gilroy Road, between Beaver Dam Road and Schilling Circle
  • Schilling Road, between Pepper and McCormick roads

Starting at 7:30 a.m.

  • York Road, southbound at Shawan Road
  • Beaver Dam Road, eastbound at Ivy Hill Road

Starting at 7:45 a.m.

  • York Road, northbound between Ashland and Shawan roads
  • Warren Road, westbound at York Road

According to Cockeyville Police Capt. J. Martin Lurz, roads are expected to reopen at 11 a.m. but heavier traffic is expected for an hour or two later.

Mass Transit Information

You can get a free light rail pass by going to the Komen website. You'll receive a wrist band that will allow you to use the light rail, MTA buses and Metro throughout the day.

Trains will leave from the Cromwell Station at 5 a.m., 5:30 a.m., 6 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. and take passengers to the McCormick Station. Travel time from Cromwell Station is expected to be about an hour. Trains will start departing from the Hunt Valley station starting at 10:30 a.m., continuing every 15 minutes.

Shuttle Service

Shuttles will run from 6 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the following locations.
