• Maryland homeowner outraged after trio illegally dumps mattresses on her property (fox5dc.com) — A 78-year-old Hyattsville homeowner is dealing with illegally dumped, bug-infested mattresses left against her fence near the 2200 block of Queens Chapel Road, and county rules say she must remove them herself. Surveillance video captured three men in a dark Chevy Silverado unloading the mattresses, and Prince George's County police are asking anyone who recognizes them to come forward.
   

• D.C. man pleads guilty to Bailey's Crossroads carjackings, regional spree (ffxnow.com) — A regional carjacking spree in 2024 included a violent holdup of a Toyota Prius driver in Hyattsville, where the victim was assaulted and had his car and electronics stolen. The D.C. man involved has now pleaded guilty and faces a lengthy federal sentence, after similar armed carjackings across D.C., Maryland, and Virginia.
   

• Man pleads guilty in Maryland to cross-country unemployment insurance fraud scheme (foxbaltimore.com) — A Hyattsville resident has pleaded guilty in Maryland to helping run a multi-state unemployment insurance fraud scheme that stole more than $400,000 using victims' identities. Prosecutors say he used debit cards mailed to Maryland addresses and ATMs to withdraw cash, with sentencing set for December and significant prison time possible.
