Gun violence is materially reduced in states which have stronger gun ownership laws. Join the conversation on Wednesday, November 11 at 7:30 pm, with Cantor Boxt, congregant Daniel Webster, Director of Center on Gun Violence at the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, members of the Community Social Action Council and other outraged congregants to engage in a conversation on anti-gun violence.
Rabbi Stone sermonized on gun violence at Yom Kippur. Dan shared some of his research which has demonstrated that gun violence is materially reduced in states which have stronger gun ownership laws: “My research has shown that comprehensive background check requirements coupled with handgun purchaser licensing reduces homicides and suicides. We’ve also found that laws that prohibit perpetrators of domestic violence from having guns leads to fewer intimate partner homicides. Laws requiring gun owners to lock their guns away from underage youth reduce teen suicides and deaths from unintentional shootings.”
