B-CC Football Looking to 'Continue Instilling Habits of a Winning Program'

Barons finished last year 6-4, and narrowly missed out on reaching the playoffs.

Rich Noland’s Barons will look to overcome a disappointing end to last season.

After starting last year 6-2, B-CC needed just one more win to make the playoffs, but lost each of its final two games, subsequently missing out on the postseason.

The Barons will have to replace 15 of their 22 starters from that team, including quarterback Kasey Cotting and wide receivers DeAndre Cooper and Terrance James, but Noland is hopeful this year’s team will be able to offset those losses.

Noland expects running back Diondre Anderson to be a focal point for B-CC’s triple-option offense. He also foresees defensive backs Ronald Felix and Nick Halo becoming leaders on a young Barons defense. Noland is also excited about the potential of transfers Cory Applequist and Omar M’Hmadi. Applequist, a junior, will play both fullback and linebacker. M’Hmadi is an offensive lineman.

Senior Zach Grunberg is B-CC’s lone returning starter on the offensive line.

“We’ve progressed each of my three years, so my expectations are still very high,” said Noland, in his third year as the Barons’ head coach. “One of the things that we’ve tried to get started here is that winning programs have expectations of winning regardless of who’s playing, and that’s the mentality we have to have. We’re just trying to continue instilling the habits of a winning program.”
