Einstein Boys Lacrosse Falls to Rockville
Einstein handed Rockville High their first win of the season.
After losing three straight close games to start the season, the Rockville High lacrosse team knew something would have to change to pick up that elusive first win. On Friday night, the defense took it upon themselves to make that change, and stepped up in a big way to lead the Rams to a 6-0 win over .
“It was huge to get that win out of the way,” Rockville coach Kurt Kohler said. “The first one is always the toughest, and now we picked up the win...It's a big relief to get that off our back.”
Rockville (1-3) jumped out to an early lead, thanks to a goal by Conor Jordan four minutes into the game. Ricky Morse added a goal of his own at the beginning of the second quarter to put Rockville ahead 2-0.

In the meantime, Rockville's defense was stifling. They showed an aggressive streak, consistently laying hard hits and attacking the sticks of the Titans players. The few shots Einstein was able to get off were blocked by goalie Andrew Hall.
“Our defense really stepped up today,” Kohler said. “We tried a new defense this week, and they really stepped up and helped one another.”

After a scoreless third quarter, the Rams offense exploded, scoring four times in the fourth quarter. Jordan scored twice in the quarter to pick up the hat trick. Morse had a second goal, and Owen Taylor also scored.
“We finally gelled as a team, and it's going to show over the next few games,” Kohler said. “Finally getting this win is going to give us some huge momentum, and we'll use that over the next few months.”
Rockville will try to build on their success in their next game, at 7 p.m. on Tuesday when they travel to Wheaton. Einstein travels to Watkins Mill, Monday at 7 p.m.
