Howell takes over an Einstein football program that has gone 17-23 over the last four seasons including a 4-6 mark last year but the new head coach expressed optimism for the 2011 campaign with the return of several key players including quarterback Sean Loftus.
“He’s a better person than a quarterback,” said Howell. “He’s a great kid. His work ethic is tremendous.”
Peter Ngoh and tailback Keith Gaye will also be expected to play significant roles next season. Ngoh was a two-way standout for the Titans last season.
“We look for him to come back and be a staple on the offensive and defensive side of the ball,” said Howell.
The first-year head coach seeks to put the Einstein football program on the map; the Titans haven’t made the postseason since 1998 when the team finished with a 9-2 record.
“We have some talent,” said Howell, “and now it’s time for the talent to work as hard as it can to help this team.”
