Gaithersburg, MD - At approximately 3:50 a.m., the Montgomery County Emergency Communications Center received multiple calls for flooding in terrace level apartments of the Rock Creek Woods apartment complex in the 13200 block of Twinbrook Parkway in Rockville.

Fire and Rescue personnel arrived on scene and evacuated dozens of people from the apartment buildings. Fifty apartments were impacted by the flooding, and approximately 12 apartments were flooded. Approximately 150 residents have been displaced by the flood waters and have been transported to a reception center at the Mid-County Recreation Center on Queens Guard Road.  The Red Cross and Montgomery County Health and Human Services is assisting the displaced residents.

A 19-year-old male was found deceased and one resident is still unaccounted for at this time. Three people were transported to area hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries. One firefighter was also transported with minor injuries.

 

Montgomery County officials are asking for any residents who may have left the Rock Creek Woods apartments to contact the non-emergency number at 301-279-8000 to ensure that all residents are accounted for.
