Second round of design meetings starts today.

The debate over putting a new Bethesda-Chevy Chase cluster middle school in Kensington continues today, as Montgomery County Public Schools holds its on the proposal.
The 2 p.m. meeting will be in the choral room of , at 4301 E West Hwy., in Bethesda.
The new school was initially slated to be built in Silver Spring, but after public backlash, the Board of Education and instead recommended its second choice: in Kensington.

Despite the objections of Kensington parents and residents, the project has advanced to the feasibility-study stage, and the purpose of the public meetings is to develop a design for the school.
The new school's construction is meant to ease overcrowding at Bethesda's , rerouting students to the Kensington site once it's built.

Today's meeting will be hosted by members of the Faculty Advisory Committee, including representatives from MCPS, design architects and members of the PTA.
In , residents expressed concerns that building a school on the park would unnecessarily pave over green space and increase traffic in the area.
Prior to that, the Rock Creek Hills Citizens' Association the construction of a new school on the park, but the Montgomery County Board of Education has chosen to move forward with the plan.
