• Forest Stormwater Pond Repair Project Has Begun in Laurel (howardcountymd.gov) — A county project is underway to repair a failing stormwater pond near 10408 Stansfield Road in Laurel, bringing weekday construction and temporary lane closures through late November and overall work into early 2027. Drivers in the area should expect alternating closures on Stanfield Road between 10416 and 10404 during weekday hours and are urged to slow down and stay alert in the work zone.
   

• New MARC train service offers Brunswick-Baltimore connection for UMD commuters (dbknews.com) — Laurel residents now have a more direct MARC train option linking Frederick County's Brunswick station to Baltimore's Camden station, with the line stopping in both College Park and Laurel. The weekday service aims to ease commutes for University of Maryland students and workers by bypassing D.C. transfers, offering predictable travel times and a temporary fare discount on one-way tickets through March.
