I would like to debunk some 'falsehoods' and 'myths' perpetrated by my very own HOA & Architectural Review Board:1) 33 year old homes that have never seen a paintbrush or bucket of paint can indeed be painted without the structure of home itself experiencing 'any allergic reaction' to paint and without spraying an antihistamine on wood frame homes themselves. LOL! 2) Brick walls and pillars @ entrances of homes, after 33 years of neglect and accumulative mold and mildew having appearance of 'massive fire damage', can be power sprayed without the entire brick wall crumbling to the ground like 'salt'. 3) Storm doors (that by stated standards and regulations set by both SVHC and ARB) with sliders can fulfill your very own regulation (painting sliders themselves) without causing sliders to be inoperable/dysfunctional. That has been confirmed by manufacturers themselves. If regulation continues to state "entire front door and entire storm door 'must' match in entirety", you (ARB & SVHC) are contradicting and violating your 'very own set standard'. Red storm doors with white sliders merely have the appearance of a 'job not completed' and appearance of 'white masking tape' dead center on door. Obnoxious! 4) House numbers centered over front doors will not and do not "adversely affect property profile" particularly when ARB's very own penned article in the Village News 'announced to ALL Village members' that such was acceptable and does indeed exist in other communities without 'bringing those communities somehow down to their knees. 5) Military-sized flags permanently installed on front of small townhouses that 'pay homage' to preference football teams, soccer teams, etc are not considered 'display of patriotism to the United States'. It is called 'sports fanaticism'. Hummm! LOL! 6) Serious community inspections once every one or two decades do not constitute claim in either Village News or on MVF & HOA web sites that routine inspections actually take place. 7) Photos of ARB hired and/or volunteers in the Village News actually attired in 'matching uniforms' does not exist in reality. But it did create an imagine of professionalism for the Powers That Be to present to general populace. No such uniformed individuals have ever graced my community. And those hired or volunteering to perform far and few between inspections don't even introduce themselves or present credentials. Apparently, MVF/ARB and SVHC have not heard of the 'professional courtesy' nor the fact that we hear, every day in the news, alerts of 'Stranger Danger'. 8) Contrary to popular belief from HOA representative(s), mandating residents to place house number on trash cans and recycle bins is not "illegal" and it would surely assist in some fashion in identifying those who sit those disgusting, dirty items around the perimeter of community 24/7 (rather than returning such to their homes and private property). And it would certainly minimize the presence of Ben the Rat and his entourage in Village communities and also alleviate the 24/7 appearance that most South Village communities have of being an extension of County dump site and recycle facility. Hummm! 9) Insincere when resident hears the words "we want to 'work together' to make all parties happy/satisfied. We wish to act 'IN GOOD FAITH'". Certainly not from any experience I've had with them nor the experience of those neighbors I've met & talked to over the years who are frustrated and feel like ping pong balls in a losing 'tournament' with the Village Powers That Be. Just a few examples of erroneous information and 'mixed messages' coming from the Powers That Be.
