A woman with a broken walker was trying to get to a bus stop – and ultimately a relative’s house to fix the device – when a Montgomery County Police officer came to her rescue.
The act of kindness was captured by a resident, Bryan Barker, who took to Facebook to applaud the officer for lending a hand.
“Seeing that has made my day a lot better and is a wonderful reminder that there are great officers out there who protect and serve their wonderful citizens,” Barker said in a message to police. “Thank you for all that you do.”

The helpful officer turned out to be Sgt. Mark White, who said he was driving down the road when he noticed the young woman’s walker was broken and that she was having difficulty maneuvering down the sidewalk. White talked to the woman and learned she was on the way to a family member’s house via several bus transfers to get a part that might fix the walker.
Instead, Sgt. White drove the woman to the family member’s house and was able to fix the walker, Montgomery County Police said on Facebook.
