Fire Causes $55K in Damage to Store

Firefighters were called early Wednesday to the Bed, Bath and Beyond store in Germantown for an electrical fire.

An electrical short in a light likely caused a fire Tuesday at the Germantown Bed, Bath and Beyond Store that tallied an estimated $55,000 in damage.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesman Pete Piringer said via Twitter that store employees found the fire and called 911 before 5 a.m.

A sprinkler system controlled the fire in a second-floor office area, but heavy smoke filled the building at 12940 Middlebrook Road.

Montgomery Community Media reports the store’s employees evacuated the building and there were no injuries.
