Group of Rogue Zip-Liners Cited by U.S. Park Police
The group set up its own zip-line and tried to ride from the Billy Goat Trail on Maryland side of the Potomac River to Virginia.

A group of people attempting to set up their own zip-line over the Potomac River from Montgomery County to Virginia after dark on July 3 was intercepted by authorities, the U.S. Park Police confirmed.
The group was attempting to zip-line from the Billy Goat Trail on the Maryland side of the Potomac River to the Sandy Landing area on the Virginia side of the river. A USPP spokesperson confirmed units responded to the scene on the Virginia side, and were assisted by Fairfax County Police.

A spokesperson for FCPD confirmed it received a call at 9:30 p.m. on July 3 regarding the zip-liners.

The entire group of zip-liners were issued citations and fines, and were escorted away from the river with their equipment, authorities said.
