MoCo Man Charged with Possessing Child Porn

A state Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force says a Montgomery man had images of child pornography on his computer.

A Montgomery County man has been arrested on child pornography charges after a search warrant reportedly turned up suspect images on his computer.

Members of the Maryland State Police, Computer Crimes Section, Maryland Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Brian Scott Kanka, 26, according to a news release. He was charged with distributing child pornography and possession of child pornography.

A search and seizure warrant was executed at Kanka’s residence on Friday by a Maryland State Police Computer Crimes investigator and agents from the Department of Homeland Security, Montgomery County Police Department, and the Montgomery County State’s Attorney’s Office.

Investigators identified Kanka as a suspect in April 2015.

Authorities seized a computer that Kanka had in his possession that reportedly contained images of child pornography. Kanka was taken to Montgomery County Central Booking and is awaiting a hearing from the District Court Commissioner.
