Dog Bites Driver After Pedestrian Struck: Police

Rescue crews responding to Gaithersburg and Montgomery Village incidents, according to Montgomery County Fire and Rescue.

Crews responded to two incidents of pedestrians struck in Montgomery County on Monday afternoon -- and one mishap involved a dog’s retaliation against a driver.

The incidents were reported by Montgomery County Fire and Rescue spokesperson Pete Piringer on Twitter.

The first incident was reported at Little Quarry Road and Chestertown Street. In that case, the pedestrian was walking a dog when the victim was struck by a vehicle in the Kentlands community of Gaithersburg.

Gaithersburg Police Officer Dan Lane described the pedestrian’s injuries as minor scrapes, reports Montgomery Community Media. Lane said when the driver got out of the vehicle to check on the pedestrian’s condition, the victim’s dog bit the driver.

The dog’s breed was unknown, but was described as small. The driver was taken to a hospital to have the bite checked.

The second incident was in front of the Denny’s in the 19200 block of Montgomery Village Avenue.
