Flood Warning, Tornado Watch Remain In Effect

A flash flood warning is in effect for northwestern Montgomery County until 12:30 p.m. and a tornado watch remains in effect until 3 p.m. for Montgomery County, according to the National Weather Service.

Montgomery County Fire and Rescue are warning residents to use extreme caution in areas prone to flooding.

In a press release, they identified several local roads that are often subject to flooding.

• MD 117 (Clopper Rd) at Gr. Seneca Creek
• MD 117 (Clopper Rd) at Little Seneca Creek
• MD 118 (Germantown Rd) at Great Seneca Creek
• River Rd and Berryville Rd at Seneca Creek
• White’s Ferry Road and River Road

The release also included the following safety tips if a flash flood should occur.

• If a flash flood warning is issued, act immediately.
• Know your location when driving.
• Never drive through a flooded road or bridge. Back up and try a different route.
• Stay on high ground.
• Six inches of water will cause a driver to loose control of the car; a food of water will float many vehicles; and two feet of water can carry away almost any vehicle.
