North Potomac Daytime Burglary Prompts Police Warning
Police warn homeowners to take precautions to prevent daytime burglaries.

A North Potomac homeowner went out for just an hour in the middle of the day on Tuesday.
During that time, according to Montgomery County police, an unknown suspect broke into the house on the 14200 block of Reed Farm Road through the front door and stole cash. The theft was reported to police at 1:37 p.m.
Montgomery County Police spokesperson Howard Hersh told Patch this kind of daytime incident is not uncommon throughout the county. He said all homeowners should take steps to make their houses appear occupied at all times, to deter would be burglers.

He made the following suggestions for homeowners.
- Leave a clock radio on during the day.
- Put shoes near a front window so it looks as though someone is home.
- Turn the ring volume down on your house phone, so it can't be heard ringing from outside.
- Never leave a newspaper out during the day.
- Look out for your neighbors.
