9/11 Ceremony Planned At Anne Arundel County Memorial Site

On Wednesday, Sept. 11, Anne Arundel County emergency workers, employees and the community are encouraged to attend a 9/11 ceremony.

MILLERSVILLE, MD — Anne Arundel County officials will commemorate the 18th anniversary of the tragic Sept. 11 attacks Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Anne Arundel County Sept. 11 Memorial located at county police headquarters, 8495 Veterans Highway, Millersville. Anne Arundel County Executive Steuart Pittman, County Fire Chief Trisha Wolford and County Police Deputy Chief William Lowry, along with citizens and department members, will lead the ceremony.

When the ceremony is done, a moment of silence will follow and a wreath will be placed at the memorial, which was commissioned in 2010 with steel from Ground Zero. It was constructed to honor those lost on Sept. 11, 2001, and honors the men and women of Anne Arundel County who devote themselves each and every day to make Anne Arundel County a safer place.

The Anne Arundel County September 11th Memorial was officially dedicated Sept. 11, 2010. It provides a place of reflection to pay respect to the victims of the 9/11 attacks. It is dedicated to "all public safety personnel who responded that day and who continue to respond each day, remaining ever vigilant to protect the liberties and the freedom of our great nation."
