Penn Line Service Resumes, Man Hit By Train At Odenton

A man died after he was hit by an Amtrak train Wednesday morning at the Odenton station, authorities say.

ODENTON, MD — Service is resuming Wednesday after an Amtrak train struck a person at the Odenton station about 7:15 a.m., authorities said. All Penn Line service was suspended, but is slowly resuming. MARC officials warn passenges to expect extensive delays in both directions.

Service to the Odenton station only is still suspended, trains in both directions will bypass Odenton station until further notice, officials said at 9:15 a.m.

Train 412 (9:05 am departure) departed Washington 40 minutes late and will make all stops en-route to Baltimore except Odenton station.

Washington Metro is open for MARC passengers from New Carrollton to Washington, D.C. Camden Line Service is operating as normal on time to cross honor tickets.

Train 413 (6:45 am Baltimore departure) was the last train southbound. All other trains are holding where they are.

WJZ reports the man hit by the train was pronounced dead at the scene. Maryland Transportation Authority and Amtrak officials are investigating.
