Ambulance Taking Injured Patient Crashes On Way To Shock Trauma

A man being taken to the hospital after being injured in a wreck outside Hanover was involved in a second accident in the ambulance.

HANOVER, MD — A 54-year-old man en route to R. Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center Friday morning after sustaining injuries in a car accident was then involved in a second accident while being taken by ambulance. The first incident occurred at approximately 8:19 a.m. Aug. 16 eastbound along Route 100 between New Ridge Road and Harmans Road near Hanover.

Firefighters found a pickup that had left the roadway and landed on its side in the woods by the roadway. The 54-year-old male was trapped and extricated in less than 10 minutes by the Anne Arundel County Police Department. A passenger in the same vehicle was transported to Baltimore Washington Medical Center with minor injuries.

The ambulance was involved in an accident en route to Shock Trauma along Route 295 North, north of Route 100. The three firefighters in the ambulance were not injured.
