Armed High Schooler Found Off Campus With Loaded Gun, Weed In Anne Arundel: Police

An armed high schooler was found off campus in Anne Arundel County, police said. He resisted officers when he was found with a gun and weed.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department announced that it charged a student who brought this loaded gun to Meade Senior High School on Tuesday. Officers said the 17-year-old boy also had 320 grams of suspected marijuana on him.

FORT MEADE, MD — County police said they charged a student who brought a gun to Meade Senior High School on Tuesday.

Officers said they found the unidentified teenager with a loaded privately manufactured Polymer 80 9-mm handgun and about 320 grams of suspected marijuana.

There is no evidence suggesting that the suspect planned to use the gun, a police spokesperson told Patch.

Authorities did not release the name of the accused student. They only identified him as a 17-year-old boy from Fort Meade. This is normal protocol for minors charged with most crimes.

The Metropolitan Police Department alerted the Anne Arundel County Police Department about the armed student on school grounds.

The student resource officer at Meade High identified the suspect through video footage and told patrol officers where he normally hangs out after school, a press release said.

Police said they found the accused student around 3 p.m. He was off campus near Annapolis Road and Ridge Road, which is not on Fort Meade.

The suspect started to passively resist, officers said.

Authorities said they had to carry him to the police car.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department said it charged the student accordingly.
