Crofton Man Intentionally Hits Victim With Car: Police Report

Police say a Crofton man intentionally struck a victim with his car in Gambrills. The crash hospitalized the victim, according to a report.

GAMBRILLS, MD — Police say a Crofton man intentionally struck a victim with his car on Wednesday evening. The incident happened around 7 p.m. in the 1300 block of Defense Highway, officers claim.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department arrested David John Webber Jr. in connection with the incident. Webber, 23, faces a felonious count of first-degree assault as well as charges of second-degree assault and reckless endangerment, which are both misdemeanors.

The accused Crofton man is being held on $50,000 bail. He will next appear in court on Oct. 14 for a preliminary hearing. His case does not yet list a trial date.

Police allege that Webber fled after striking the man with his 2006 burgundy Mercedes. Officers arrested Webber after they found him nearby in the area of Hermitage Hills Drive and Defense Highway.

According to the police report, the victim was a 25-year-old male. Medics took the injured man to the hospital, and he is expected to live.
