ODENTON, MD — A double shooting at an Odenton party left one man dead and another hospitalized on Sunday, county police said.

Officers identified the late victim as 38-year-old Alexander Leon Gray Jr. of Glen Burnie. The other victim is a 30-year-old man from Glen Burnie. Authorities said the surviving victim suffered serious injuries, but they expect him to survive.

Police heard about the shooting around 2:30 a.m. Officers said they went to the basement of a multi-business commercial building at 1588 Annapolis Road that advertised a large party from midnight to 5 a.m. that same date.

Authorities said they encountered 60 to 70 people leaving the unidentified business and scattering around the parking lot and Annapolis Road.

The crowd would not let police enter the establishment, officers said.

Authorities said they found a victim bleeding in the parking lot, but he was trying to escape.

There was also a victim within the business's doorway, police said.

"The crowd was actively impeding officers from rendering aid to either victim," a press release said. "Eventually, when enough officers arrived, they had to form a line and push the crowd back to allow the Fire Department access to the victims."

The release said medics took the victim in the parking lot to an unidentified hospital.

First responders pronounced the victim in the business dead, officers said.

The Anne Arundel County Police Department said this was a targeted shooting, not a random act of violence. Homicide detectives have not made any arrests or named any suspects, but they are still investigating.
