Drug Bust Yields $63K In Fentanyl Pills: Police

A narcotics task force arrested a Gambrills man Wednesday after searching his home.

GAMBRILLS, MD — A Gambrills man is facing narcotics charges after a police task force searched his home early Wednesday morning and found fentanyl pills with a street value of nearly $63,000, according to the Anne Arundel County police. Robert Simpson, 23, was arrested and charged with possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and possession of a controlled substance.

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is more potent than heroin. In searching his home in the 2600 block of Carver Road, detectives from the Anne Arundel County Heroin Task Force found 6,296 fentanyl pills (391 grams) disguised as Oxycodone pills, the police said.

The search resulted from an investigation into narcotics trafficking from the residence, the police said. Detectives also seized computer equipment, various concealment devices and $8,578 in U.S. currency.
