SEVERN, MD — A Severn woman has been charged with second-degree murder after police said she stabbed her former boyfriend during a fight, authorities said.

Shantel Dakeisha Brooks, 33, is accused of fatally stabbing Larry Bennett Dorsey, 42, with no fixed address, in the chest and the left arm.

Anne Arundel County Police were called to the 1700 block of Meade Village Circle Road in Severn shortly before 1 a.m. Sunday on a report of a fight. Dorsey was found suffering from trauma to the upper body.

Officers rendered aid to Dorsey until paramedics arrived to take him to an area hospital, where he died from his injuries, a police report said.

Witnesses told detectives Dorsey was intoxicated and told to leave Brooks' residence several times, but he returned a short time later.

Police say Brooks armed herself with a knife and confronted Dorsey, who was stabbed in the chest and the left arm.

An autopsy performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined Dorsey's cause of death was multiple stab wounds with the manner being homicide.

Brooks is charged with second-degree murder and dangerous weapon with intent to injure.
