HANOVER, MD — Women were robbed last week as they got out of their cars in Hanover and Pasadena, and police have charged a Gaithersburg man in both cases. The robberies both happened on Jan. 27 and the suspect in both cases was similar, say Anne Arundel County Police.
Authorities have charged Stacey Eric Wilburn, 30, of Gaithersburg, with armed robbery, robbery, theft, assault, handgun in commission of a felony, and handgun on a person, in the two robberies.
The first hold-up happened about 9:30 a.m. Friday in the 2700 block of Amber Crest Road in Hanover. A 60-year-old woman told officers she was unloading groceries from her vehicle when she was approached from behind by a man who pointed a handgun at her and demanded money.

Once the woman handed over her purse, the suspect took cash and fled. Officers searched the area but were not able to locate the suspect, believed to be Wilburn.
Later that evening in the 100 block of Oak Drive in Pasadena, a man armed with a handgun stole a woman's purse and cash as she was getting out of a vehicle. The suspect then left the area in a white SUV.

A hunt for the getaway vehicle prompted police to stop the vehicle, which was being driven by Wilburn, who matched the description of the suspect. He was arrested and charged in connection with both robberies. When police searched his vehicle they found a 9mm handgun.
