Gambrills Man Burned By Grill Fire: Officials
A 35-year-old Anne Arundel County man sustained serious injuries while trying to repair his grill with the propane tank valve open.
GAMBRILLS, MD — On Saturday, paramedics took a 35-year-old male to the burn center at Medstar Washington Hospital Center with serious injuries sustained after a propane tank attached to a grill sparked a fire. According to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, the incident occurred shortly before 7 p.m. at 1113 Red Harvest Road.
When firefighters first arrived on the scene, they found a grill that had been on fire. The man had been injured while trying to figure out why his grill wasn't working properly. Though the flame was out, the burners were on and the propane was still flowing into the grill. While attempting to relight the grill, a fuel-air explosion occurred, the fire department reported. According to a report released by the Anne Arundel County Fire Department, a neighbor realized what had happened and extinguished the fire.
