Ghost Gun, Marijuana Seized In Odenton Traffic Stop: Police

A ghost gun and marijuana were seized by police during an Odenton traffic stop and an Annapolis man charged with a weapons violation.

ODENTON, MD — A ghost gun and marijuana were seized by officers during an Odenton traffic stop Sunday night, Anne Arundel County Police said in a release.

Mark Waring Jones, 22, of Annapolis was charged with a weapons violation as a result.

About 11 p.m. officers stopped a vehicle near Annapolis Road and Blue Water Boulevard because its registration plate did not belong on the car, officials said.

When they approached the vehicle, police gained probable cause for a search of the car, the department said. During the search, they reportedly found marijuana and a 9mm ghost gun.

Mark Waring Jones, 22, of Annapolis was charged in the case, police said.

Ghost guns have no serial number and are untraceable firearms that can be bought online and assembled at home, according to the Brady gun violence prevention group. They are often sold through kits, which include all of the parts and equipment necessary to build the guns at home.
