ODENTON, MD — Firefighter Adam Young has received the First Evangelical Lutheran Church of Odenton’s Local Hero Award. Young joined the Odenton Volunteer Fire Company (OVFC) in September 2017. He arrived at OVFC with prior fire and emergency medical services training experience from New Jersey and quickly assimilated into the organization. Young is a committed regular on the Wednesday night duty crew, allowing OVFC to provide continuous service to its communities.

In addition to participating in his assigned duty night, he also regularly fills in on the Friday, Saturday and Sunday crews as his schedule permits. He typically volunteers more than 30 hours per week and in 2019 was one of our top two responders with 429 emergency calls.
