Local Runners Fare Well in Baltimore Marathon

Amanda Hachey, 19, of Gambrills, won her age group. Several others were among the leaders in their respective groups.

Seventeen runners from Odenton and Gambrills finished the Baltimore Marathon on Saturday, with several placing near the top of their respective age groups.

Amanda Hachey, a 19-year-old from Gambrills, placed first among women aged 16 to 19. The Arundel High School graduate finished 109th among all women with a time of just under 3 hours, 42 minutes.

Brian Holman, 28, of Odenton, had the best time among local runners, finishing in 3 hours, 26 minutes. He was 256th overall and 43rd in his age group.

Louise Sharrocks of Odenton finish with a time of 4 hours, 58 minutes, placing 34th among women aged 50-54. Sharrocks, who suffers from Crohn's disease, used her entry to raise money for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation of America.

William Myers, 61, of Gambrills, finished in 5 hours, 26 minutes, good for 39th among men in his age group.

Patrick Donahue, 58, of Gambrills, was recognized for competing in all 10 runnings of the Baltimore Marathon. He finished in 6 hours, 31 minutes.

David Rutoh a Kenyan native now living in Valparaiso, IN, was the race winner on the men's side, finishing in 2 hours, 13 minutes and 11 seconds.

Olena Shurkhno of Ukraine was the top female finisher with a time of 2 hours, 32 minutes and 17 seconds.

More than 3,300 runners participated in the marathon Saturday.
