Possible Road Rage Shooting In Hanover Prompts Airlift To Hospital: Police

A man was shot while driving in Hanover, police said. The victim was airlifted to a hospital. Road rage may have been involved.

HANOVER, MD — The Maryland State Police announced that a man was shot Sunday afternoon while driving in Hanover. The 1-year-old passenger was not hurt in the possible road rage shooting.

A medevac helicopter flew the victim to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore, a press release said. The injured man was still in the hospital as of 8:35 p.m. Sunday.

Troopers said the shooting happened around 3:45 p.m. on northbound Maryland Route 295, also known as the Baltimore-Washington Parkway, before the Arundel Mills Boulevard exit.

Witnesses told authorities that two cars were involved in what appeared to be road rage. One witness reported seeing several flashes that looked like gunfire coming from the suspect's car, the release said.

Police said the suspect was driving a gray sedan that may be a BMW. Troopers do not have a description of the driver.

The victim was driving a gray Chevrolet Malibu. Authorities said they searched the victim's sedan and found evidence suggesting that multiple shots hit the car.

The Maryland Stated Police is still investigating.
