Anne Arundel County Steak 'n Shake Up For Auction

MILLERSVILLE, MD — Maryland's first Steak 'n Shake is up for auction next week, just two years after it first opened in Millersville, Capital Gazette reports.

The restaurant's owner defaulted on a $3.2 million loan and the auction is set for June 30 at the Anne Arundel County Courthouse.

The burger chain has been a favorite of Midwestern diners for decades. The Millersville location opened June 22, 2015 with a ribbon-cutting ceremony. Former Pakistan Ambassador Jalil Abbas Jiliani, Anne Arundel County Executive Steve Shuch, two state senators and delegates attended the grand opening.

Steak 'n Shake was founded in Normal, IL, in 1934 on the concept of offering premium burgers and hand-dipped milk shakes. The restaurants offer breakfast and a kids’ menu.
