Odenton Drug Dealer Sentenced To Prison

An Odenton man arrested after a drug raid found $40,000 worth of narcotics has been sentenced to prison, authorities said.

ODENTON, MD — An Odenton man arrested after a police raid turned up about $37,000 worth of marijuana has been sentenced to 15 years in prison. Melvin Rio Robinson, 54, of Odenton, was sentenced by Circuit Court Judge William C. Mulford II for possession with intent to distribute cocaine, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of a firearm with nexus to a drug trafficking crime, possession of a firearm after being convicted of a crime of violence, and related charges.

"Mr. Robinson is a repeat offender who has consistently threatened the safety of our citizens," said Anne Arundel County State's Attorney Wes Adams in a statement. "My office will continue to aggressively prosecute anyone who demonstrates such a severe disregard for the law."

On June 7, 2017, Anne Arundel County Police Department executed a search warrant at a home on Becknel Avenue in Odenton that Robinson routinely frequented. When officers searched a garage on the property they found over 3 pounds of marijuana, 20 grams of cocaine, a rifle, and various other drug paraphernalia. Police estimated the street value of the drugs at more than $40,000.

Robinson was found guilty by an Anne Arundel County jury on March 22. Maryland sentencing guidelines recommended a sentence between 10 to 15 years of active incarceration. Robinson was sentenced to 15 years of active incarceration, the first five years of which are to be served without the possibility of parole.
