An Odenton grandson was charged in the death of his grandmother, police said. He is being held without bond until his trial.

ODENTON, MD — An Odenton grandson faces several charges after his grandmother died from a head injury sustained during a family dispute, county police said Thursday.
Officers identified the victim as Betty Ann Esposito, 78, and the arrestee as Michael Esposito, 33.
The encounter started on Dec. 16, 2021 around 8:20 p.m. Authorities went to the 2000 block of Autumn Valley Circle in Odenton for a family dispute. The victim and caller reported that she had a head injury and needed medical aid, police said.

Police said they took the grandson into custody, and medics could then help the victim.
Authorities said they arrested the suspect on charges of assaulting the officer and committing family violence offenses.
Police said the grandmother never regained consciousness, and she went to an unidentified hospital.
Officers said the victim, who was still unconscious at the hospital, died on Dec. 20, 2021 from the injuries that she suffered four days prior.
The Anne Arundel County Police Department's homicide unit started investigating. Detectives worked with the Maryland Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the Anne Arundel County State’s Attorney’s Office.
Authorities took the case to an Anne Arundel County grand jury after months of investigation. Police said the grand jury voted last Friday to indict the grandson on charges of second-degree murder, vulnerable adult abuse and the abuse/neglect of a vulnerable adult/family member.
Officers said they took the suspect into custody without incident on Saturday.
The grandson is being held without bond until his trial, authorities said.
Though police already made an arrest, officers asked anybody with information to call them at (410) 222-4700. Tipsters can stay anonymous.
