Scott Tyler Samuels, 22, of Levitown, PA, was found in the roadway and treated by paramedics. He was flown to Maryland Shock Trauma by Maryland State Police helicopter with life-threatening injuries.

Investigators say a 1995 BMW driven by a 17-year-old Odenton girl was eastbound on Annapolis Road in the left lane when Samuels reportedly ran from the south side of Nevada Avenue into the path of the vehicle. The driver tried to stop, but Samuel with the front of her vehicle.

Friends of the pedestrian reported he was chasing another friend’s dog that had gotten loose, and that he had been drinking.

Police say Samuels’ condition is critical but stable on Monday.

The BMW is owned by Brenda Lavonne Green of Raptor Drive in Odenton. Four teenagers from Odenton, Gambrills and Randallstown were passengers in the car; no injuries were reported.

The preliminary cause of the crash appears to be the pedestrian’s failure to yield right of way to a vehicle when not in a crosswalk, investigators say. Alcohol is a contributing factor on the part of the pedestrian.

Officers say neither alcohol nor speed appears to be a contributing factor on the part of the BMW driver.
