Woman Hit By Train Near Odenton Is Critically Injured: Officials
After officials said a person was hit by a train, MARC service was temporarily suspended Thursday morning on the Penn line.
ODENTON, MD — A woman was hit by a train near Odenton Thursday morning and was critically injured, according to officials. Due to police activity, MARC service was suspended on the Penn line for more than an hour, according to the Maryland Transit Administration.
A woman estimated to be in her 20s was hit on the railroad tracks south of the Amtrak Maintenance Center in the 500 block of Old Waugh Chapel Road, according to the Anne Arundel County Fire Department.
Emergency personnel were called to the scene at 7:28 a.m. on Thursday, May 16.

At the request of medics, she was flown to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center by helicopter, which landed at Piney Orchard Elementary School, according to officials.
The woman is being treated for injuries that may be life-threatening, Anne Arundel County fire officials reported.

MARC service was temporarily suspended on the Penn line as a result of the collision. Transit personnel announced the delay after 7:30 a.m.
By 8:50 a.m., officials reported that service had resumed with residual delays.
The Amtrak Police Department is investigating the crash.
