Pickleball, Zumba Planned For Older Americans Month Celebration

Two special events will be held in Odenton and Edgewater this month to recognize the endless contributions and value of local seniors.

ODENTON, MD – Seniors and their loved ones are invited to celebrate Older Americans Month this May with an assortment of activities hosted by the Anne Arundel County Department of Aging and Disabilities. Seniors are encouraged to try Zumba, quilting, pickleball, billiards, genealogy and observe a woodworking demonstration at two special events in Odenton and Edgewater.

Every May, older adults across the nation are recognized for their contributions to their communities and society. The 2019 theme is Connect, Create, Contribute, which encourages older adults and their communities to:

  • Connect with friends, family, and services that support participation.
  • Create by engaging in activities that promote learning, health, and personal enrichment.
  • Contribute time, talent, and life experience to benefit others.

"I am thrilled to have the opportunity to invite all county residents to our OAM celebrations," said Pamela Jordan, director of the Department of Aging and Disabilities, in a press release. "Older adults are an inspiration to us all and the foundation of our communities."
