Police Use Taser On Severn Man, Fire Gunshots But Miss
A Severn man reportedly showed a gun to children, then ran from police who used a Taser and fired shots at him. No injuries are reported.

SEVERN, MD — A Severn man reportedly showed a gun to children as he sat in a vehicle outside a residence Thursday evening, then ran from police who used a Taser to subdue him, authorities say. An Anne Arundel County Police patrol officer fired shots at the 32-year-old man, whose name has not been released, but didn't strike the man. No injuries are reported.
Police were told a man with a gun was showing a revolver to kids as he sat in the 8100 block of Meade Village Road in Severn. Two officers approached the suspect's vehicle and repeatedly ordered the suspect to get out of the vehicle with his hands up. The suspect refused to follow their commands, began to reach into the center console of the vehicle, and one of the officers used his Taser on the man, with no effect, police say. The suspect continued to refuse commands to put his hands up and again reached into the center console and toward his waistband area. At this point, a second officer fired his handgun twice at the suspect, but missed.
The suspect then ran into a nearby residence. Moments later another man ran out the back door of the residence, while the suspect came out of the residence and surrendered to police. Officials have not said if they recovered a handgun from the suspect.
