Severn Teen In Custody For Arundel Mills Mall Shooting: Police
A Severn teen accused of shooting a man at Arundel Mills Mall Saturday night is now in custody, police said Tuesday.

HANOVER, MD — Anne Arundel County Police have a 16-year-old Severn boy in custody who is accused of shooting a man at Arundel Mills Mall. Jamari Marquese Hammond was accompanied by his mother when he turned himself in at the Western District police station about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday on a charge of attempted murder, authorities said. Police had earlier released Hammond's photo and asked that anyone who knew of his location to call authorities.
Social media reports said gunshots were fired at Arundel Mills Mall in Hanover Saturday night, but police didn't confirm that until Sunday. The department said about 7:45 p.m. Saturday a shooting victim walked into an area hospital with a gunshot wound to his lower torso. The victim was shot at Arundel Mills Mall and is in stable condition.
Officers responded to the entrance 3 area of the mall for reports of a shooting, located several witnesses and obtained surveillance footage of the incident. Hammond was identified as the suspected gunman and is wanted for attempted murder and related charges.

Investigators say the shooting stemmed from an argument between two groups of people previously unknown to each other. It was targeted and isolated in nature, police say.

A woman commented on the police department's Facebook page that she was there with her family. Divita Dapj wrote, "worst feeling ever. My heart is pounding for all that was there everyone running everywhere trying to get out dave n busters......kids getting run over.omg prayers for all."
