Severn Man Dies When Motorcycle, SUV Collide

A Severn motorcyclist died when a Glen Burnie driver pulled out in front of him on MD-175 in Odenton, police say.

ODENTON, MD — Anne Arundel County Police have released the name of a Severn man who died when his motorcycle collided with a Glen Burnie woman's SUV, which was making a left turn. Mark Stephen Bodnar, 58, of Severn, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which happened about 5:45 p.m. Thursday in the 1100 block of Annapolis Road (MD-175) near Oakton Road in Odenton.

Bodnar's 1999 Harley Davidson Ultra Classic motorcycle was northbound on Annapolis Road when a 2005 Lincoln Navigator driven by Sierra Q. Williams, 35, of Glen Burnie, pulled out from a parking lot at 1144 Annapolis Road attempting to turn left to drive south on Annapolis Road. Police say Bodnar was unable to stop and struck the driver’s side door of Williams' SUV.

Bodnar's body was taken to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore for autopsy.

Williams was taken by Anne Arundel County Fire Department personnel to Baltimore Washington Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

The preliminary cause of the crash was failure to yield right of way by Williams police say. Alcohol and excessive speed do not appear to be contributing factors in the crash. The motorcycle driver was wearing a helmet.

Any decision on charges will be made after a review by the State’s Attorney.
