Makeshift Flamethrower Used In Severn Assault: Police Report
A Severn man tried to set his neighbor on fire with a makeshift flamethrower, Anne Arundel County police say.

SEVERN, MD — A Severn man tried to set one of his neighbors on fire with a makeshift flamethrower, Anne Arundel County police say. The assault happened around 1 a.m. on Tuesday.
The victim was smoking a cigarette outside her home in the 1700 block of Meade Village Circle when the suspect approached her. A police report says that the suspect squirted lighter fluid at the victim through the flame of his lighter, causing the stream to ignite.
The suspect twice tried to hit the woman, but he missed her both times, according to the report. The suspect fled, and the victim was not hurt.

Police found the accused man in a vehicle on Maryland Route 100. The Anne Arundel County Police Department arrested Thomas Harry Glorius Jr. in connection with the incident, charging him with first- and second-degree assault and reckless endangerment.
First-degree assault is a felony. The other two charges are misdemeanors.

Glorius, 53, has a bail hearing Tuesday at 11 a.m.
